The World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) was developed in response to the globalization of the tobacco epidemic, and contains measures to reduce the demand for tobacco as well as reducing its production, distribution, availability and supply. Currently, 19 of the 22 Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) countries are parties to the WHO FCTC.
