GGTC: Why?

The increasing incidence of tobacco industry interference at the international platform requires a more systematic, structured, and preventive approach. Protecting public health and protecting governments from the corrupting influences of the tobacco industry need to go hand-in-hand.

GGTC is a partnership program of the School of Global Studies, Thammasat University, Thailand, and the Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) to promote and enhance good governance in tobacco control through a whole of government approach. Our objectives are:

  1. To provide technical support to countries to enhance whole of government approach in tobacco control
  2. To develop shared values in tobacco control across sectors both national, regional and international
  3. To support the development of policy/measures and code of conduct for various sectors when interacting with the tobacco industry in accordance with FCTC Article 5.3
